The High School Equivalency Diploma Program (HSED)

The High School Equivalency Diploma Program (HSED) is a nationally responsive, internationally benchmarked secondary education equivalency program designed by Okyrie International University to serve out-of-school youth, adult learners, and academic attrition students. The program provides an accredited pathway to secondary-level certification comparable to the UK General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) and the United States General Educational Diploma (GED) credential.

Through a competency-based, flexible, and blended-learning delivery model, the program enables learners to demonstrate mastery of secondary-level knowledge and skills necessary for workforce readiness, tertiary education, and lifelong learning.

Age requirement: 17 and older

Minimum Requirement: Completed Application

The HSED consists of five compulsory subject areas:

  1. Mathematics
    (Algebra, Geometry, Data Analysis, Applied Numeracy)
  2. English Language Arts
    (Reading Comprehension, Writing, Grammar, Communication)
  3. Integrated Science
    (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science)
  4. Social Studies
    (Civics, History, Geography, Economics, Guyana, Caribbean and Global Contexts)
  5. Digital Literacy
    (ICT Skills, Information Literacy, Online Safety, Workplace Applications)
