Dr. Ekpededeme Emmanuel Akpan

Associate Professor/Medical Officer– Preclinical & Clinical Sciences

Dr. Akpan is a licensed physician and academic faculty member dedicated to medical education, clinical excellence, and compassionate healthcare delivery. He brings a strong blend of clinical experience and teaching expertise to the university community.

With a background in both hospital-based medicine and medical education, Dr. Akpan has served as a Medical Officer and Lecturer, teaching across pre-medical and medical science levels. His teaching portfolio includes Anatomy, Physiology, Histology, Biochemistry & Genetics, Medical Physiology, Clinical Case Review, and Final-Year MD Clinical Exam Preparation.

Dr. Akpan earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Texila American University in Guyana and is registered with the Caribbean Association of Medical Councils. He served on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic at the Infectious Disease Hospital and is currently practicing at Georgetown Public Hospital, Guyana.

With a passion for student mentorship, academic innovation, and interdisciplinary healthcare training, he is committed to preparing future physicians with the knowledge, ethics, and skills required for global medical practice.

Dr. Akpan believes in treating others with dignity and respect—principles that guide both his professional and personal life. Outside of his medical and academic responsibilities, Dr. Akpan enjoys spending time with his daughter, to unwind and recharge after a demanding day
